Abstract
Abstract art doesn't represent objects directly. Instead, it uses shapes and colours to create an effect and doesn't attempt to represent reality accurately.
Fine
Fine art is a broad category that encompasses creative works primarily valued for their aesthetic; focusing on areas such as harmony, composition, use of colour, light and shadow, form, structure and symbolism.
Impressionism
Impressionism began in the late 19th century. It highlights light and colour, capturing everyday moments and can be characterised by loose brushstrokes.
Pop
Pop Art, which started in the mid-20th century, uses imagery from popular culture like ads and comics, often featuring bright colours and bold graphics.
Minimalism
Minimalism is all about simplicity. It removes unnecessary elements, focusing on basic shapes and clean lines.
Surrealism
Surrealism emerged in the early 20th century, inspired by the subconscious mind, often featuring strange, fantastical scenes that challenge our perception of reality.
Each of these styles offers a unique perspective on art and creativity, allowing artists to express themselves in diverse and innovative ways. Whether you're drawn to the detailed realism of fine art or the bold experimentation of abstract art, there's always something new to discover in the world of art.
